Escape to France for an amazing 6 day summer hiking trip in the mountains and plateaux of the Vercors, Largest National Park in the French Alps.
MOUNTAIN IDYLL AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN REACH
The wild and diversified beauty of its landscape, is the signature of this natural park, the most extended in France. Among its impressive canyons, high mountain plains and valleys, and its majestic peaks, the Vercors also offers an access to extensive and deep caves to explore. The Vercors is a land of harmony between People and Nature, with its exceptional heritage preserved by a unique geography. The Vercors is a veritable ” island in the sky”, which in its past history was rather inaccessible for a long time. An area embraced by the rivers Rhône, Isère, and the Drôme.
You’ll also enjoy some unforgettable gastronomic treats as you sample the local delicacies: ravioles du Royans (mini ravioli), Sassenage blue cheese, Clairette de Die sparkling wine… that also reflect in their variety the startling contrasts between the mountainous northern part of the massif and the south, with its almost Provençal climate.
There are 3 days of climbing the mountain passes with stunning views over the National Park and as far as Mont Blanc.
Fly to Lyon and then tack the train to Monestier-de-Clermont where you will be transferred to Gresse-en-Vercors.
Day 2, 3 and 5 – We will hike on average 5 hours with ascents between 700m and 1140m.
